Jamie R. Spivey...
Director...
I, Brother Jamie R. Spivey, currently serve the B.R.&C.F. and its members as a director and as a Terminal President in Fitzgerald, Georgia. I became a proud member of this organization on July 5th 2006 and quickly began obtaining new members. In April of 2007 I was honored to be appointed the position of Terminal President #288. In October 2008 I attended an orientation seminar at the home office in Harrisburg. With the retirement of Brother R. J. Myers in 2009 I was appointed to the vacant director position. Then in April of 2010 I had the privilege of being elected by the members at the annual meeting to serve a five year term.
After four weeks of classroom training at Okeefenokee Technical College in Waycross and one week of field training in Jacksonville, Florida I officially hired on with CSX railroad on August 18, 2002. On October 31, after almost 11 weeks of training in Fitzgerald, I was forced to Savannah for 11 months. Although I made many friends while in Savannah I was very eager to return home to my young family. In April of 2006 I attended CSX’s REDI center in Atlanta for the locomotive engineer trainee program. Finally in October of that year I was promoted to a qualified locomotive engineer.
Currently I serve on the Local Committee of Adjustments as the Secretary-Treasurer for Division 706 of the BLET in Fitzgerald. I was first elected to this position in 2006 and then re-elected in 2009. I was also elected to the Vice-Local Chairman’s position for my Division in 2009. I became a proud member of the BLET in March of 2004 after being a member of the UTU Local 1790 for two years.
My wife, Sandy, and I have been married for 9 years have two very beautiful and energetic daughters. Cadence who is eight is the third generation in the family to attend Ambrose Elementary. While Kendalyn, four, attends Eastside Baptist Pre-K in Douglas. In addition to being a member in the NRA and SCV my family and I are very active in the local PTO. Like most southerners I enjoy hunting, fishing, NASCAR, high school and college football. GO DAWGS!!!!
I was born and raised in Coffee County just outside of the city of Douglas, Georgia in March of 1981. The son of a carpenter and factory worker I have always understood the meaning of hard work and fiscal responsibility. During the summer months when I wasn’t helping my father in his construction business I was helping my friends in the tobacco fields. After graduating in 1999 from Coffee High School I enrolled and attended South Georgia College where I majored in Political Science.
