Brotherhood's Relief and Compensation Fund

Announcing ...

The BR&CF is committed to offering you the greatest value

and the most affordable protection.

The Board of Directors recently reviewed our Constitution to update and clarify portions of it.  To meet the challenge created from the high discipline levels on the railroad today, changes were made that impact all members.  New Constitutions will be mailed to members in October 2007.  Please read it carefully and in its entirety.  Some of the most important changes are as follows:

Article XII - This Article has been expanded to clarify and include specific types of occurrences that were not eligible previously and are not eligible now.  Examples are: use or possession of weapons; use or possession of electronic devices; not meeting any availability policy or requirement; the late reporting of any injury, cumulative injury, occupational illness, medical conditions, and the misuse of the Family Medical Leave Act.

Article XIII - Days of Eligibility for "Held Out of Service" Benefits

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2007

After a continuous beneficial membership of:

Days of Eligibility

A.

Less than 24 months

150

B.

24 months but less than 48

180

C.

48 months but less than 60

250

D.

60 months or more

365

Article XIII - Demotion benefits have been eliminated.

Article XVIII - Relief of Dues shall not exceed 24 consecutive calendar months unless written notice requesting a continuance of relief of dues is received and approved in the Principal Office.

Our goal is to provide members financial protection at an affordable level and to continue to pay all eligible claims with the speed and service that our members expect and deserve.
