On July 1, 2007, the BR&CF will be reducing the discounts for members paying semi-annually and annually.  The new dues discount of 15% for members who pay their dues annually and 5% dues discount for members who pay their dues semi-annually is a necessary business decision.  

While the fund is still financially sound, the BR&CF's members have had a recent increase in discipline assessed by the railroads and we have also seen an increase in the number of members retiring.  The combination of both items has increased the amount paid in benefits to our members.  When dues revenue was substantially higher than the amount the BR&CF was paying in claim benefits, the BR&CF passed the savings on to our members in the form of a larger dues discount. 

Members who are making a regularly scheduled annual or semi-annual dues payment will see this change starting with their July 2007 dues reminder notices.  Newly updated applications reflecting these changes will be available in the near future.
