S. M. Dodd

Director

Sonja Dodd was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and later moved to Toronto during her high school years. In 2007, shortly after completing college, Ms. Dodd began her career with CPKC in Toronto.

From an early age, Ms. Dodd demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and community involvement. She served as Secretary-Treasurer of her high school Student Council and was an active member of the Toronto District School Board’s Super Council. This early dedication to advocacy and representation naturally guided her toward union involvement soon after joining the railway.

Ms. Dodd became active with Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Division 295 just four years into her career. She began her union journey as Vice Local Chairman for Yardpersons and later served a term as Local Chairman in that craft. While raising her young family, she continued to serve her fellow members in various capacities, including Vice Legislative Representative, Vice Local Chairman for Conductors, and Vice Local Chairman for Engineers.

Since 2017, Ms. Dodd has held the position of Secretary-Treasurer for Division 295, where she remains dedicated to supporting the membership and ensuring the integrity of the Division’s operations.

In 2023, Ms. Dodd expanded her contributions to the national level when she was selected as a National Facilitator for the TCRC Education Program, which provides training for Division-level Presidents, Secretary-Treasurers, and Local Chairmen across the country.

In 2024, she joined the Teamsters Ontario Women’s Caucus (TOWC) as Director of Communications, furthering her advocacy for equity, inclusion, and the advancement of women within the Teamsters Union.

Today, Ms. Dodd continues to serve as the Local Chairman for Engineers in Toronto Division 295, where she remains a respected leader, advocate, and mentor within the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference.
